Agri-Extension Innovation Program |

Farming in Manitoba and considering a pressing system? This is the funding program for you!
This program provides funds to farm and non-farm clients for the evaluation of innovative technology that will improve environmental sustainability, profitability and added value in farming. Local GO Teams will work directly with clients on Agri-Extension Innovation projects.
Eligible applicants include:
- farmers
- agri-processors
- partnerships
- co-operatives
- corporations and communes
Applicants must lead the projects for which they apply. Priority will be given to technology-verification projects that demonstrate, evaluate and transfer the technology of proven innovations to the farm level. These include proven innovations in:
- new crops (i.e. special kind of canola or soybean varieties for crushing)
- new crop/livestock production methods and technologies (especially those providing new income sources, lower production costs and sustainable production). This could include custom crushing or sale of your pressed products, reducing your external feed costs by feeding your own protein meal and reducing your fuel and transportation requirements).
Funds are available for, but not limited to:
- goods
- shipping and transportation
- services (such as per diems for presenters and laboratory testing)
- promotion and advertising (up to $2,500 per project)
- rental or lease of equipment or machinery

CAAP Sustainability Call for Proposals |

Description: As a catalyst for innovation, adaptation, and advancement for a profitable and sustainable agriculture and agri-business industry, the Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) issued a Call for Proposals (CFP) on December 8, 2011, to encourage projects that address agricultural sustainability in Ontario. Eligibility:Eligible projects must be consistent with the objectives and principles of Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program (CAAP) as outlined in the AAC CAAP Guide. Proposals submitted under the CFP will focus on one or more of the three defined areas of sustainability - economic, environmental and/or social. Sustainability is defined as follows for the purposes of this CFP:
- Economic sustainability - participants in the value chain have reasonable and equal opportunity to prosper
- Environmental sustainability - the industry conserves, protects and regenerates resources and is resilient to climate and ecological conditions
- Social sustainability - the industry generates goods and services reflecting demographic trends of the general population

Application deadline: February 1-29, 2012
Description: This program promotes economic development in eastern Ontario, leading to a diversified and competitive regional economy with successful businesses and prosperous communities. It has been a catalyst in many communities by encouraging new projects and community plans, mobilizing community stakeholders and helping to form partnerships.
